Manager Environmental Roadmap DNP

In this challenging role, you are responsible for the Management of the global Environmental (Planet) Improvement Program of the Business Group DSM Nutritional Products (DNP), thus contributing significantly to the sustainability values and targets of DSM. This includes initiating of ideas, supporting the further development of projects, ensuring technical and economic feasibility data are available for prioritizing and decision-making. You will support all activities related to its successful implementation, as well as be responsible for regular and timely reporting of the DNP performance.

  • Develop and drive roadmaps for all relevant environmental KPI’s defined in the multi-year plans and targets of DSM and DNP, to progressively improve on energy, GHG, emissions to air, waste, renewable energy and heat and water
  • Develop, plan and measure progress of site initiatives and projects, consolidate all data and generate adequate management information; present this in regular meetings of the Environmental Review Team of DNP for decision-making
  • Organize and support data analysis, audit DNP plants with material contribution to the overall DNP planet performance to ensure reasonable assurance
  • Support sites to identify an ongoing flow of opportunities to improve planet performance
  • Ensure timely challenge and improvement of Capital Expenditure Requests regarding environment to support quality of decision-making in the Investment Board
  • Develop specific plans and budgets for energy improvement projects
  • Maintain a network of site environmental road map managers for sharing, learning, cross-site fertilization and to standardize “sound solutions” across sites
  • Represent DNP in the DSM environmental network
  • Maintain an eye on external technology development, liaise with the DNP process innovation team
  • Ensure timely and correct “planet reporting” of all DNP sites twice a year
  • Monitor important legal developments globally, which may have an impact on our plans and ambitions


  • Experienced process engineer, with a degree in chemistry or equivalent scientific discipline
  • Successful track record in project management
  • People-oriented person, with excellent communication and motivation skills, both at engineers/shop floor level as well as at senior management level
  • Drive and passion for sustainability and environment
  • Team player with the ability to effectively work and deliver in diverse cultural settings
  • Communicative, pragmatic and result-oriented personality, with sound priority-setting skills
  • Proficient in the use of excel and power point for data analysis and reporting
  • Excellent language skills in English (and preferably also) German
